What the position is: The Maintenance Supervisor has the responsibility for supervising, coordinating and ensuring completion of all Scheduled and Line Maintenance activities as well as supervising, coordinating and performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities during their respected shift. Essential Functions: Oversees the management of all areas of either Line or Heavy maintenance to produce and direct activities for the maintenance of all Company owned/leased operated aircraft, support equipment, and facilities. Supervises the implementation of long- and short-range planning for either Line or Heavy maintenance planning, programs, objectives, and policies. Implements procedures for maintaining high standards of Line or Heavy aircraft maintenance operations to ensure aircraft conform to all FAA, CommuteAir Maintenance Program, and manufacturers’ quality standards. Manages to headcount requirements as determined by Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager. Assists Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager in the management of maintenance operations annual budget for his/her location. Identify, develop, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost, rework, and scrap at his/her location. Supervises and monitors either Line or Heavy maintenance at his/her location to ensure goals of the Maintenance Operations organization annual plan are on target. Acts as a liaison for his/her location between internal and external department leaders to ensure proper communications of decisions and Train, develop, and evaluate employees at his/her location. Take corrective actions as necessary in a timely manner within Company policy to address any deficiencies in performance. Ensure compliance with all current federal, state, local, and Company labor requirements. Coordinates the implementation of facility projects (e.g., Hangar/Shop layouts, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.) Coordinates the implementation of programs essential to operational sustainability and consistency for his/her location (e.g., safety, cost reduction, security, 5S, training employee involvement, etc.) Actively survey the progress of the work using Self Audit Form CA-118 SUP Self-Audit. This Self Audit Form should be utilized as an aid daily, and once weekly be sent to the Base Manager and Quality Assurance/CASS for further evaluation. Perform other duties as assigned. Authority: Perform any maintenance action on which he/she has been trained, qualified, or authorized. Shall have the authority to approve parts requests for nonstocked parts. May remove any aircraft from service when an unairworthy condition exists. May return Company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of their certificate and Company authorizations Delegation of Authority: This individual may not delegate authorities to other Maintenance Personnel General requirements & qualifications Must hold a current Airframe and Powerplant certificate and required Company authorizations. Demonstrate leadership abilities and technical knowledge required to perform the duties of this position. Know the appropriate Maintenance Policies and Procedures. Must have one year experience as a Certificated Mechanic or Repairman. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward productivity, safety and quality of maintenance. Hold a valid state issued driver's license and government issued passport. Organized with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities regularly. Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language. Legally authorized to work in the USA. Must have own set of tools. Physical Requirements: Heavy Work: Exerting up to 70 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force regularly to move objects. Ability to safely drive tugs, trucks and hangar equipment, taxi aircraft, alert to moving vehicles and aircraft in the work area. Ability to lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 50 lbs. regularly, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, and kneel frequently, and often in confined spaces. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Ability to hear instructions orally, in loud environments, and the ability to detect fine differences in sound that may or may not affect the repair or operation of aircraft. Ability and willingness to wear personal protection equipment when necessary. All physical requirements may be performed with or without accommodation. Visual Acuity Machine operators and visual inspection includes office administrative functions: Includes inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative; This is a minimal standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts with or without corrective lenses. Environmental Conditions: Depending on work location, may be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour and/or extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for extended periods. High noise levels, which may require PPE. Vibration: exposure to oscillation movements of extremities or the whole body. Hazard awareness: including proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on ladders; exposure to chemicals and power equipment. Atmospheric conditions: including the possibility of conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or working in areas with poor ventilation for more than a few minutes. Oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other fluids The worker may be required to wear a respirator at times.
