Job Title: Avionics Shop Lead – First Shift Department: Avionics Reports To: Avionics Manager Internal applicants must submit an Employee Internal Application form. A signature from your current manager is required to be considered for position. ORGINIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:   The Avionics Shop Lead reports to the Avionics Management Team. BASIC FUNCTION:  Oversee the daily operations of the Avionics Back Shop, Avionics Tool Room/Wire Room, and Battery Shop. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Assist as needed with training new Avionics Tool Room personnel, Back Shop Technicians, and Battery Shop Technicians. 2. Maintain and encourage that all Avionics Back Shop, Avionics Tool Room/Wire Room and Battery Shop policies and procedures are being followed. 3. Maintain and assist with tooling locations in AMOS, physical inventory, and audits. 4. Ensure that release forms are used and filled out properly. Follow up with mechanics for tooling that is not returned on time. 5. Keep the Avionics Tool Room/Wire Room, Avionics Back Shop, and Battery Shop secure, and escort personnel when they need to enter any of these rooms. 6. Ensure all tooling that is found broken, defective, or otherwise not in working condition is properly tagged, noted and Avionics Management is notified. 7. Oversee work performed on back shop CM projects to ensure it is being performed with current industry standards. Ensure all documentation is in accordance with Kalitta Air and FAA requirements. 8. Read and interpret all maintenance instructions, such as AMM’s, CMM’s, EO’s, EA’s, etc., as applicable. 9. Inspect and ensure all equipment and tooling calibration dates is not going to go overdue. 10. Provide oversight and support to Avionics Tool Room/Wire Room, Avionics Back Shop, and Battery Shop personnel ensuring effective performance, knowledge sharing while maintaining a safe work environment. 11. Any other duties assigned by the Avionics Management Team.

Requirements

  • • 2+ years of experience in Heavy aircraft avionics systems or 2+ Backshop operations experience.
  • • The demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • • Preferred valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license, Airframe license, Repairman’s certificate or sufficient experience to receive a company issued repairman’s certificate.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school graduate; some college and/or technical school.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.
